EEK! I've been neglecting you...

Yupp... poor lil blog has been sorely neglected since before the Holidays...

but I will try to do better! (I said try, lol)

Anyhow, I've been having so much fun experimenting with shaping, forming, cooking and banging different metals, that I finally caved and decided to try oxidizing some of my sterling silver findings ... and just recently tried it on my first piece of jewelry, woohoo! I'm quite pleased with the results, so here it is... TaDA!

My beautifully organic, rustic, earthy gemstone bracelet, lovingly wrapped with oodles of wire... created of course, with my own hand forged clasp, and a gorgeous handmade Hill Tribes fine silver chain extender to make it adjustable. So altho this is my first piece, it certainly won't be my last, because I'm really loving this oxidized silver look!

Now don't get me wrong, I love nothing more than the bright, creamy look of sterling silver, so I will always have those types of designs in my shop... but one must step outside the box... push the envelope... test their mettle (or metal, as it were, lol). In any case, I do like to appeal to as many different jewelry tastes as possible, so it's onward and upward (literally, with the ever increasing price of sterling and fine silver lately... now that qualifies as an EEK!)

So, stop by when you get a chance... you'll see some new and innovative pieces that I'm very proud of. OH, and there are a lovely pair of earrings to match this bracelet... just sayin ;)

What a lovely surprise to find that my featured bracelet made Etsy's Front Page this morning! I'm sorry I missed it, but after all, it IS Sunday... had a lovely late Saturday night, and so a late start this morning. The best part of the surprise is that my bracelet was purchased by a very sweet buyer who will now enjoy my creation and hopefully visit my Etsy shop again soon!

OUR FIRST JET TEAM BEAD CHALLENGE!

Two weeks ago, ten JET members each received two of the exact same beads. The beads are six sided yellow mother of pearl or shell. The only rule was ... anything you make must have both beads used in the design! No restrictions means ... plenty of imagination!

Each participant has made something entirely different! This shows exactly how talented and imaginative our members really are. The variety of the pieces entered is simply amazing! Every one of these designs is a winner, no matter the outcome of this challenge ... each entry is special and truly one of a kind, just the way handmade jewelry is supposed to be. I imagine each piece will have its fans ... it could be close!

Creating with silver and wire is Silver Smack's passion. Herringbone wrap, wire wrapped briolettes, and designs involving hammered silver rings are her current favorites. I watched this site for several months, loving & admiring all the creative and talented International artisans that are just awesome! Imagine, worldwide sellers and buyers! What a fun place to shop & sell... and what a great way to meet new people, be exposed to art forms & styles I wasn't aware existed. AND, the FABulous jewelry artisans there, have only served to inspire my creative spirit!

To help you shop, there's a Time Machine, Gift Guides, Showcases, Contests... some great unique categories, like "Geekery" which is a fun one ~ I love that there are so many earth-conscious sellers there, too ... I found one in particular that knits handbags and totes out of those plastic grocery bags like you get at Kroger or Walmart, and they're amazing ~ you'd never know what they're made out of, if she didn't say so. There are also some really fun adult and very humorous artistic creations, some odd & twisted items too, I'll admit... but still, a diverse cross-section of variety that is offered nowhere else, at least not that I've found in my internet travels!
